5 books I want to read

I'm going to pick 5 books from my wishlist every month. There will be different kinds of genres and themes every month. And, I will write a little about every book why I want to read it. Since I asked for haunted house books a little while ago will I start this year with that theme.

The House on Cold Hill - Peter James Peter James - The House on Cold Hill

...As the haunting becomes more malevolent and the house itself begins to turn on the Harcourts, the terrified family discover Cold Hill House's dark history, and the horrible truth of what it could mean for them

I was instantly taken with the cover. I have never read a Peter James book and that's why I haven't bought the book because I'm not sure I will like or not and I'm very cautious nowadays when it comes to buying books. Thank you very much, Tilly Bagshawe.

Christopher Golden - Dead RingersDead Ringers: A Novel - Christopher Golden

With a deep history that threads back to the days of Alistair Crowley and an ancient house, the spirits of some long dead magicians live on by possessing the lives of others in the present day.

Yup, long-dead magicians and mentioning of Alistair Crowley. Aldo, this is Christopher Golden. I want to read this book! But I thought I should read Snowblind first.

Burnt Offerings (Valancourt 20th Century Classics) - Robert Marasco,Stephen Graham Jones Robert Marasco  - Burnt Offerings

During that long summer the house becomes a nightmare from which there seems to be no escape.

Back in 2009, I saw the movie version of this book from 1976. Can't remember so much about, but apparently according to the a movie site I was active on at the time did I find it OK. I love 70-80s horror movies, I actually prefer to see and old horror movie than a new one. This seems to be my kind of book, I'm not after blood and gore...I want to feel chills (that are multiplying)

John Boyne  - This House is HauntedThis House is Haunted - John Boyne

From the moment she rises the following morning, her every step seems dogged by a malign presence which lives within Gaudlin’s walls. Eliza realises that if she and the children are to survive its violent attentions, she must first uncover the hall’s long-buried secrets and confront the demons of its past…

A haunted house story that takes place during the 1900-centery, and Intriguing cover and title. I'm sold!

An English Ghost Story - Kim Newman Kim Newman - An English Ghost Story
A dysfunctional British nuclear family seek a new life away from the big city in the sleepy Somerset countryside

Well, this book like the previous book caught my attention thanks to the cover and the title.  And, the family moving to a haunted house theme never gets old!
